ARGH!! Unsolveable wierdness!!!
So I've been having ISSUES with my B5 S4...
Symptoms include CE light, EPC, Oil Pressure warning, very rough idle, car going into limp mode, non-responsive accelerator. I've pulled the codes and here goes. 18047 - Accelerator Position Sensor 1/2 (G79/G185) Implausible Signal - P1639 16490 - Manifold/Barometer Pressure Sensor (G717/F96) Implausible Signal - P0106 18057 - Powertrain Data Bus Missing Message ABS Controller - P1649 16621 Manifold Pressure/Boost Sensor (G31) Signal too low - P0237 17800 Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 (G163) Open or short to plus - P1392 17746 Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Open or short to plus - P1338 The camshaft position sensor codes pop up immediately after I clear the codes. The accelerator position sensor codes pops up immediately when the pedal is depressed. The ABS error is due to a faulty ABS controller so disregard. I've changed the throttle body and MAP sensor but still get the same errors. The cam position sensor is untouched for now because I want rule out other options before replacing this. They seem to point to either the ECU or wiring issues so I borrowed another ECU and plugged it in today. Still the same errors so that rules out ECU. Are there other areas I should be looking at? The few people I've had look at it or ask about seem to think it might be a ground fault. Opinions? Options? I'm really to try anything right now. TIA VH |
ECU Plug - check for corrosion...
|
2nd. I have seen corrosion on ecu pins doing wonders to car.
|
3rd, just made that very repair 4 weeks ago, check harness connections
on back of ecu also
|
I'm assuming you guys are talking about the 2 big plugs that go into the ECU
from the wireing harness. If so, how do you clean all the small pin sockets?
I can see taking an emery cloth to the contacts on the back of the ECU box but the plugs seem hard to check for corrosion and to clean. TIA |
Yes - use a soldering iron tip cleaning tool...

I can't find a tool that looks like that...
Most soldering iron tip cleaners are brass wire spools or wet sponges that you swipe or push the tip into. But I'll try various different things to see if I can something in there.
