Default Are Audi S8 Rear Brake Conversion worth it ?

I have the StopTech 355 in the front and the rear are stock. I need to replace the rear rotors and pads. So is it worth it to upgrade the rear to Audi S8 - From Vast?

I am setting up the car to be tracked 1-2 a year.

What pads do you guys recommend for aggressive Street setup?

Default

Is the back of the car under-braked? If the rear feels planted, don't change it.

Default Consensus seems to be no. I've researched this several times and just bought...

everything for a full upgrade. I'm adapting a Brembo BBK (328 Lotus type), Teflon SS lines, Motul 5.1, custom rear rotors (stock size) & Ferodo DS2500 pads for the rear.

From what I've read here those pads would fit your purpose perfectly. The rotors I bought were from Adam on AZ. He's doing a two color coating and a custom cross drill pattern similar to my two piece Brembo fronts. He can make anything you need.

Oh yeah...I have a S8 rear setup. At the time, the cost was a wash. It isn't anymore.

Default IMHO, I like the S8 with stoptech 322 fronts

The whole goal is keeping the car's brake balance biased. You can play with bias by also adjusting the rear pads as well. So worth it is a relative term, but I really like it. On track I felt I had too much front bias by upgrading the front pads and having the bbk. The S8's pushed it closer to stock bias but you definitely don't want to overdue it. I ran a less agressive ferrodo 2500 pad inthe back with Pagid Blues at Watkins and the braking was great.

Default It was for me, I got used S8 carriers, new Zimmerman drilled, so cost was less than VAST, it...

DEFINATELY HELPED with braking on track, a little less front bias, and with Ferodo 2500, and Alcon's 332 upfront, a great brake setup! Last session my instructor was quite shocked how late I could brake!

I would actually say in your case it makes even more sense as you got more front bias with your 355... however, the difference is not too noticable on the street, and if you're not tracking that often the cost of VAST kit may not be worth it for you. If you got a good deal, then I'd go for it.
