You are kidding right?
Manual:
-more control
-4.11 final drive ratio, vs. the auto's 3.51=quicker take-off for the manual
-less power loss due to the drivetrain
-auto transmissions all die at some point, not that your clutch won't go out in the manual, but its much less expensive to replace
-shifting is more fun than 'tipping'

That's all for now.

simple answer. Real men drive 6MTs and women drive TIPs.. Which are you?
I know it is difficult as TIPs are easier to come by at lower price for B5 S4.

I agree with you, I want a manual but I'm finding so many TIPs. B5 s4s are going for around 9000-14000 here.

Tips are fine, only if you plan on staying stock. If you ever decide that you want to add more power, you're going to have alot of headaches, dissapointments, or hits to your bank account to change out to a whole different trans.

Manual all the way. Not enough that that you will be able to upgrade it, it is more reliable overall. I can't remember how many times I see people doign auto-to-manual tranny swaps for thousands of dollars, something that can be avoided by simply buying a manual.
