AW classified question

AW classified question
What is the general consensus regarding purchasing from other members via the AW classified? I am going to buy a chipped ECU (H-box if anyone in CT has one for sale!) and decided to look here first. I always am cautious about buying used things from "far away" places.
Thanks,

I've had no problems at all and have bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff..........
I think the most important thing is to buy from a frequent poster. Now, this is not mandatory but can be helpful in determining the possibility of getting screwed.
I think someone who posts here all the time and is well known to forums is less likely to screw you.
What I usually do is find out the persons screen name and do a search for previous posts. You can learn a lot about the person by reading those old posts.
Also, you can post a question about who might know the person and get some insight there.
If you know someone local to the person, you could have someone pick-up your goods as well.
Buying used stuff that really doesn't depreciate (like an ECU/chip combo) is THE single best way to mod this car in a cost effective way.

There are risk to any transactions done over the internet, I usually email the seller
and tell them I am interested in the item but ask a number of questions about the item, their car, them selves, whatever...basically try and get a feel for the person. Most Audi owners are very escited about there cars and love to talk about them.
I have bought and sold on AW and ebay, I trust AW classifieds as I have had 100% success, ebay can a little less trustworthy. Finally if the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.
Good Luck

I've generally had good experiences
And have a high level of trust (people tell me I'm crazy, but Audiworld "feels" safe). However, I did have one transaction go terribly wrong so I would suggest using paypal to complete a transaction in order to protect yourself.
