Default Here's a rundown: (UPDATED WITH PROPER SCREW SIZES AND LENGTHS)

-Jack up front end. Support on jack stands. Use floorjack to lightly support tranny.

-First check that the 8mm socket head screws will thread into the underside of the tranny in the 2 obvious holes. If not, then run a tap in to clean them out.

-Remove triangle pieces on each side. 2x 13mm and 1x 18mm (socket size, not screw size).

-Mount aluminum block using the 2 8mm socket head screws, the 30mm ones. Use the holes that fit. Torque them to 18 ft-lbs using 13mm socket.

-Mount black angle/rubber piece to the aluminum block using the 2 8mm hex head screws using a 13mm box end wrench. Leave them a little loose at first. Here's where the washers come in. Order of pieces: tranny, alum block, black block, flat washer, lock washer, hex head screw.

-Mount the DTS bar using the existing hardware from the triangle pieces. Again leave them a little loose.

-Attach the bar to the black thingy using the other 2 longer (35mm long) 8mm socket head screws (13mm socket). Leave them loose. NOTE: I had about a 5/16" gap b/n the bar and block so I couldn't get the screws started. If so take the floorjack off the tranny. If it still won't go, then use the floor jack to push the tranny up and down just a touch to let it settle.

-Once all screws are attached. Then remove them one by one and apply loc-tite blue (optional) then tighten them down. Once all screws are tightened. Torque them. The two big 12mm ones on the ends that required the 18mm socket get torqued to 81 ft-lbs. The other 8mm screws requiring the 13mm socket get torqued to 18 ft-lbs. The 2 8mm hex head screws also get torqued to 18 ft-lbs, but I just torqued them by hand using the open ended wrench since they can't be reached well.

-Go for a short test drive to relieve anything and then make a quick check with the torque wrench to verify everything is still correct.

Good luck.

Thanks! I had done it right and have some terrible vibration... just re-torqued, it won't go away!

Hmmm. Lots of 1.8T have the vibration with the DTS, but not the S4s. I don't know.

Default ???? Umm - those are the instructions for an A4. On an S4 the plate and black

rubber block are bolted onto the tranny using the M8x35x1.25 hex head bolts. The bolts pass right through the aluminum plate (they do not engage the threads in the aluminum plate) and go directly into the tranny as shown in the inset picture on page 2 of the instructions (Step 4).

The instructions to screw the aluminum plate into the transmission first are for an A4 and Passat B5 only (Step 3 on page 2).
