Default 97 A4 Stalling

When I stop and idle, my rpms change between 1000 - 500 then it dies after a few times. Also sometimes the car will die when the rpms drop when I push the clutch in. When I am driving it runs great with no problems. I put a new coil pack on, new wire set and new plugs. Could it be a dirty fuel filter? I bout a new one to change since I haven't in a year.

please let me know your 2c.

Default ..

Check for obvious vacuum leaks (intake/throttle boot/etc) Find someone to run the adaptation for the throttle body and read mvb for tps.

Default eh ?

well, as of 1992 they are no longer called idling pumps. They do have secondary air pumps though. Most car makes have had problems with their secondary air systems and Audi is no different. The TT is by far the worst offender in this as the pump seperates and makes a tremendous racket before failing. The new (b8) A4 has a secondary air system which works amazingly well but is louder than any other car I have ever been in. The S4 has a secondary air pump but they very rarely fail and in almost all cases would not cause this issue if they did fail. Most of the time when they fail they don't pump enough air which makes the cold running and cold start conditions rich, I have seen maybe 2 secondary air pumps in the last 15 years be stuck on thus leaning out the mixture. One was on a mini clubman (pos) and the other was on a 97 Eurovan which was modded to hell and had electrical gremlins I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. As I said make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. If you are mechanically inclined pull your throttle body, clean it out, pour 44k in the gas tank and then run the adaptation for the TPS. you should be ok.
