Default bad central locking pump... if i have a bad pump..

will the doors still be able to lock? the auto lock feature still works on the car but locking it by remote or by hand doesn't do anything.

do i have a bad pump? what are some other ways to determine if i have a bad pump? i can faintly hear a pump sound from the back of the car.

Default VAG the central locking module - it stores its own codes.

It's possible that the module is not recognizing your remote, although I don't see why unlocking with the key wouldn't work.

Default Whenever I lock/unlock my doors, I can hear an electric pump running for 3-5 seconds afterwards.

I never noticed this sound before. Does this mean my "central locking pump" going bad?

Default That's what happened to mine before it died.

VAG your central lock module and look for the "run time exceeded" code. If you have that, your pump may be on its way out.

If you're curious and want to examine it, STFA for "kenobi lock pump" and look at the pics I posted of mine. Before yours dies entirely, I'd expect that disc to be somewhat intact. If it's plastic, maybe some superglue or JB Weld could strengthen it?

Default Yeah, I got a new one via my extended warranty. I still have the old one...

I'm hoping to someday get a replacement part and keep it as a backup. I'm waiting for someone's circuit board to die instead of the pump assembly.
