Default Is this a bad wheel bearing? Truck like droning sound ONLY when in gear or giving gas..

Logic tells me if its a bad wheel bearing it should be be happening ALL the time. Tranny problem or wheel bearing? To make a long story short the dealer didnt put the cap on the tranny fluid tight enough (or somthing? not really sure) and at the end of the month when I brought it in for a terrible knocking sound (to another dealer) they told me I needed major tranny work done. When I brought it to the dealer I had the tranny work done a month before they said all I needed was a fluid top off.sooo did the dealer screw me? Did the different dealer I brought it to TRY to screw me, or is it just a wheel bearing. Why do these dealers constantly try to fvck people over?

Default Not following completely...but...

If you can swerve side to side and the sound varies then its likly a bad wheel bearing.

If it seems to change depending on what surface your driving on then I would think its tires. What tires do you have?

Its pretty easy to diagnose a wheel bearing by inspecting each wheel.

Good Luck

Default Does it stop when you depress clutch?

if it just increases on the gas, sounds like a bearing. They last as long as a wash in winter.

Default Yep it stops when I depress the clutch but in essence I am just putting the car into neutral

so why does it ONLY happen when there is a load/excelleration?
