Before and after upgrading the compressor wheels on my K24's...(edited)

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/20878/tom-1.jpg"></center><p>
This is on my 993tt.
Running 1.1 bar before
Running 1.2 bar after

The only difference is the super 60 compressor wheel from the stock K24.

This should get some wheels turning for you guys to look at other compressor wheel choices than the KKK series. The Garrett series are high pressure wheels vs the KKK low pressure wheels.

FWIW the upgrade cost me $600.00 total.

ryans4 05-09-2005 12:42 PM

which colors are what? can't read the description.

Ochlockonee 05-09-2005 12:47 PM

Amazing difference in power. Was that 1.2 bar before and after? Super rich mix too.

Marin S4 05-09-2005 12:47 PM

Red is after Blue is before...The before HP curve overlays the after torque

curve making it a little difficult to read.

ryans4 05-09-2005 12:48 PM

in that case, wow, nice top end kick and flatter torque curve...

Marin S4 05-09-2005 12:48 PM

Yes same before and after...I am working on fixing the fuel curve.

LCP 05-09-2005 12:53 PM

Now you just need more boost between 4500-5500rpm, so you can really take advantage of it.

Mark P 05-09-2005 01:01 PM

getting a little lean up top on the new wheel it seems

nyet 05-09-2005 01:03 PM

when your mod's torque curve is identical to the baseline's hp curve..

you know you have a winnar

Marin S4 05-09-2005 01:09 PM

I am out of injector. New ones on the way.

So for now I only run 1.1 bar (509whp)

Marin S4 05-09-2005 01:12 PM

I would have to go down in turbine size to do that. I would rather keep the power...

up top.

Funkweasel 05-09-2005 01:14 PM

What are your octane and displacement values again? Anyway your

car sounds like a total beast! Congrats.

LCP 05-09-2005 01:16 PM

Then you just need some more revs up there so you can stay in it a little more.

Marin S4 05-09-2005 01:18 PM

Also the chart can be misleading...Since its a non DBW car if you feed it throttle down low..

instead of mashing it at 2,000 rpms like the dyno operator did it pulls much harder.

ryans4 05-09-2005 01:52 PM

993 is a 3.6l motor i believe...

PSmalls::DoggieStyle 05-09-2005 02:30 PM

yeah

Funkweasel 05-09-2005 02:33 PM

She's big. Just fast and loose->That 4600rpm plateau would move on up to over 6krpm with our

motor, *if* the turbine was the same and the comp. housing was the same and the VE was the same. Adjust all of those to move the peak hp rpm up and you get hybrids probably topping out at 450whp(or whatever) at redline for us. ;-)

Roughly speaking.

PSmalls::DoggieStyle 05-09-2005 02:35 PM

Yeah, thanks for sharing :(

I've been reading and posting on rennlist as of late. I'm really thinking about ditching the S4 modding all together and starting to tinker with the 996tt. The warranty is up now I believe. If it's not up yet, it's up in a couple of months.

Marin S4 05-09-2005 03:24 PM

The 996 will have a better torque curve than my 993.....

the 996 with similar mods has about 100fp adavantage over my car due to 4 valves per and variable cam timing.

That 996tt are a real bargin at the moment.

Mark P 05-09-2005 05:35 PM

good to hear :o)

Imolavirus@BuehnEngineering 05-09-2005 06:29 PM

looking good...........why do you say that KKK doesn't have high pressure ratio wheels?
