Default Beware: Fraud emails overbidding on your car ad. See inside

I got this email in response to my car for sale ad. Please notify site admins.

Audiworld should pursue this further. The scam is simple. I deposit $25k. Send them the overbid diff of $6500. than in a couple days the check bounces. Bank calls me looking for answers and their 6500. "henry morgan" laughs to the bank.

Default Here is his second email.

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: HENRY MORGAN <hmorgan2311@yahoo.com>

Subject: Pls confirm this whole arrangement asap......................today
To: Matt

Greetings........Matt,

Thanks for your time , effort and anticipated
co-operation .
Happy to inform you that I have concluded with my
client and he has instructed me to carry on with the
transaction,he said that I should inform you that
payment will get to you in an American cashier check of
$25,000
which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier
made by my client.
Due to the company's policy this check has to be made
out in this amount to you because the company's policy
only allows a refund payment on one cashier check,so
you are required to deduct cost of your Vehicle
$18,500 when payment gets to you and refund balance
$6,500 to my customer's shipping agent via money gram
transfer for him to be able to offset shipping
charges.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to
THE PICKUP AGENT ,our agent will come then for the
pick up and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my
client, while title papers and other necessary
documents will be signed/picked by the agent with the Vehicle to my Client.

ATTENTION;
MY CLIENT HAS INSTRUCTED THAT YOU SHOULD NOT PREPARE
ANY PAPER WORKS UNTIL THE PICK UP AGENT ARRIVES AT
YOUR LOCATION WITH SOMEONE WHO IS GOING TO TEST DRIVE
THE Vehicle AND VALUE THE CONDITIONS OF THE
Vehicle ..SO AFTER THEN THE PICKUP AGENT WILL
SIGN THE NECESSARY PAPERS ON HIS BEHALF..

PICKUP ARRANGEMENT;
PLS MY CLIENT IS MAKING THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS
WITH SOME SHIPPING AGENT REGARDING THE PICKUP/SHIPMENT
OF THE Vehicle BUT HE ADVISED THAT AS SOON AS HE
FINISHES THE ARRANGEMENT THAT HE WILL INFORM ME ON THE
PARTICULAR SHIPPER(i.e the shipping agent's information) WHO IS GOING TO ARRANGE FOR THE
PICKUP/SHIPMENT.

Please Confirm this whole arrangement and provide your
Name.................,Address..................... ...
and Phone Number ......................for check
payment to be made out in your name and send to you immediately
this week.
I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND...
Thanks for your time, effort and understanding...

HAVE A NICE DAY.

Default How the scam works

I am selling my car for $18,500 in NJ.

Henry claims he has a client who wants my car.

Willing to ship me a check for $25,000, not 18,500.

I am to wire henry the diff of $6500.

somehow they can make the check go thru for full 25k, but i guess after a certain period it just bounces.

This scam happened on ebay with someone selling a motorcycle. See link<ul><li><a href="http://www.moverquest.com/motorcycles/scams.aspx">http://www.moverquest.com/motorcycles/scams.aspx</a</li></ul>

Default that screams scam... >more

<i>"..you in an American cashier check of
$25,000 which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client."</i>

<b>-"Canceled" is spelled wrong</b>
<b>-Yeah right, that sounds believable.. lol</b>

<i>"...MY CLIENT HAS INSTRUCTED THAT YOU SHOULD NOT PREPARE ANY PAPER WORKS UNTIL THE PICK UP AGENT ARRIVES" </i>

<b>-What is "Paper works"?</b>

<i>"PLS MY CLIENT IS MAKING THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS WITH SOME SHIPPING AGENT REGARDING THE PICKUP/SHIPMENT OF THE Vehicle BUT HE ADVISED..."</i>

<b>-"Some shipping agent"?</b>
<b>-Why is "Vehicle" the only word lowercase?</b>

<i>"Due to the company's policy this check has to be made out in this amount to you because the company's policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier check,so you are required to deduct cost of your Vehicle $18,500 when payment gets to you and refund balance $6,500 to my customer's shipping agent via money gram transfer for him to be able to offset shipping"</i>

<b>-Read the wording closely...</b>
<b>-WTF is "The Company's policy", and why did they say it 2 times in <u>one</u> sentence? </b>

----------
I hope you aren't saying <b>you</b> got scammed with this?

If so, I'm sorry. I am <b>not</b> trying to make fun of you or the situation, but just point out some obvious clues.
