Birthday present for my baby....
My baby is just shy of the 250,000 mark. '01 Nogaro over silver.
I figure she deserves a nice birthday present. Other than a Milltech exhaust she is bone stock. So I was thinking an APR stage 1. I wouldn't mind doing some suspension work to minimize body roll. But I can not afford to drop the car lower. I end up plowing the road already on a typical Maine winter day. Suggestions? What else do you think my baby might want for her 250,000th? |

or maybe - http://www.awe-tuning.com/products/a...wesflo-dp.html I have the downpipe to a 2.5" AWE exhaust, I LOVE THE DRONE! It sounds perfect! Just a couple suggestions. |

Hotchkis front and rear sway bar 4. New downpipes with high flow cats ( i have Milltek's) 5. LWFW and remove the viscous fan Assuming everything on the suspension is stock. Oh and the chip is good for 40-50hp anytime you add it. |
Thanks for the suggestions. All good.
What kind of shocks would you suggest - ones that would not lower but would stiffen? Actually, I am having the front arms done - they are toast from Maine roads. Will look into the other suggestions. Many thanks David |
Honestly, I'd think about stock shocks along with the hotchkis sway bars. Any coil overs come with slightly stiffer springs which help cornering and nose dive, but tend to 'bounce' a little on the highway. Bilsteins are gas filled and tend to be a lttle bit harsher than stock. FWIW - I was really impressed by the change the Hotchkis bars made more so than any shock change,

Checked out the sway bars. Look good. What about springs? I have a cracked one and have to replace it. Any of them that do not lower - or lower too much?
Thanks |
Maybe some rotiform wheels? Suspension work would be nice. Maybe a tune up and some repairs?
|
Wheels are good. I had some lovely three piece Ronals on my B5 A4 which would not work on the S4.
Have done "repairs" this year: 2nd timing belt (at 225k - lucked out), water pump, fuel pump, brakes and replacing two control arms is on deck. I was actually real hot to buy a used Cayenne GTS but decided to make my Audi just a bit more fun, and drive her until at least 300k. |
