Blown speaker - Passanger Rear package shelf. Replace or upgrade?
Seems like that speaker is only used for bass output. Should I replace ir, or should I go with an aftermarket solution for bass?
Anyone have a spare they'd be willing to sell me?

This is the first problem I've had with the sound system :)
I've managed to do all my mods myself so far, but haven't touched the sound system!
Sounds like yours has blown too. Did you replace it? or upgrade to something else?

they are notorious for dying
mine is blown.. but can only really tell when it hits a certain bass note... i am living with it for now.. i will go with an after market system.. gonna pull out all the bose and replace... gonna go with navigation/dvd/mp3 and then run an amp for mids high and seperate for bass.. no big woofers or anything.. but good clean sound...
you could buy another speaker from dealer/bose to fix for now.. but it will blow again

Crazy vibration with heavy bass? Could be some loose part under...
...the deck. Or at least that's what I've read when I STFA this situation. Last time mine did it the car was under warranty so the stealership took care of it. I'm starting to get it again and plan to STFA again and either take care of the loose part that's vibrating of go your route and get some better speakers...

Its my understanding that it isnt just as simple as replacing the speakers with something
aftermarket. If its Bose, the speaker has an amp on the back of it so you have to buy some sort of amp if you dont go back with bose. It is also my understanding that i have to take out both back seat bolsters, and the entire deck cover just to access the speaker screws. I got a new bose replacement for it friday but I havent managed to get up the energy to put it in yet.

go with aftermarket bass
i have a 99.5 b5 quattro, and i went through 3 sets of rear speakers. to fix the problem once and for all, i just went with 2 12" subwoofers, which makes it louder and sound a lot cleaner. its all up to u and how much u wanna spend tho.
