Default Boost Question..

Good Morning
In a Stock S4
Is the amount of boost rpm, or throttle dependent ?
If I am in 3rd gear @ 3000rpm w/steady throttle pressure how much boost am I under ?
4th gear @ 3000rpm ?
What happens to the boost when in 6th gear @ 3000rpm just cruisin along with hardly any throttle opening ?
TIA

Tack on a boost guage and you'll see why no one has answered..

Default Depends on throttle

You can be at 6000rpm...let off the gas and magically you're in Vacuum. Based on my observations there doesn't seem to be a direct correlation between boost and rpm. Whenever you step on the gas the needle moves toward boost (ie slam the gas and within seconds you're at full boost...let off and you're in vacuum). Hope this helps.

Default Boost is load dependant. Unless you are accelerating you'll be in vacuum at the points you asked

about. Altitude and air temp will also make a difference.

Seriously, buy a boost guage and hook it up, you'll learn a lot about how boost works. It doesn't have to be fancy..

Straight ghetto:

Default Little to none...I noticed that...

when I'm driving, just cruising along that I'm not creating any boost pressure. Even in six at 3K, you're still not creating any real pressure. I don't have a very accurate gauge yet to read down to the point where I could tell you if I was running .5 psi or something at the speed. It's really under acceleration that you are building boost. You know that feeling when you press the gas pedal and feel the whooosh of the turbos kick in...then you are creating boost.
