Driving an A6 2.7T as a loaner.. Car is great,...Why don't I feel same same idle roughness?

Injectors...
Is the A6 fairly new?
Later S4's (later than 6/00, since my car has the old injectors) have different injectors that "flow better" and smooth out the idle. The old ones have a gray top and the new ones have a pink top.
Another change is in the MAF sensors... my car and probably all 2001 S4's have a Hitachi MAF sensor, while 2000 S4's have a Bosch unit... the Hitachi unit doesn't crap out nearly as often as the Bosch ones have been (as evidenced by the number of MAF related issues seen on this board in the last couple of months)...
I wonder how much those "pinkies" cost...

Is the loaner a 6 or a tip?
I have an S4 and an A6 2.7T both 6 speed. I have noticed that both idle a bit roughly (misfires according to VAG). There are not enough misfires to cause the check engine light, but enough to feel. There appear to be more misfires when the AC is off. My theory is that the engine misfires mostly when at very low load.
If the loaner is a tip, it probably loads the engine more at idle when in gear than when in true neutral.
Try sitting in park or neutral to see if the idle gets rougher.

Supposedly Audi policy is to provide loaners for warranty work...
that require the car to be at the dealer for 24 hours. Two dealerships in the same area touted the same policy story to me. Another dealer, not so local, provides loaners without question for warranty work or scheduled maintenence.
If you are doing warranty work, I would speak with the service manager again. If not I would call Audi Customer Relations and let them know what is going on.
