Default brake rotor question

I've had both front pads and rotors replaced after a spirited driving session some months ago. Recently had another spirited driving session.

The rotor is grooved like an exaggerated vinyl LP. I looked at a friend's A4 rotors and those are mirror smooth.

I don't think my rotors are warped, but is this normal? Is this an indication of soon-to-warp rotors? Should I break down and buy a brake kit?

Thanks.

Default That just means your friend hasn't driven his car yet.

Do you want rotors that work or rotors to aid you in putting on your makeup.

You'll know when it's warped, the entire car shakes like it's in a blender.

Default the working ones, thanks

just wondering if rotor grooving (sounds like a dance) is a normal part of rotor wear. They definitely aren't warped now.

Default It depends what you want to do with the car...

If you plan on doing "Spirited Driving" on a regular basis then I would certainly suggest buying a brake kit. The stock rotors are not designed to take high thermal cycles, and anyway the internal vents don't move enough air to do any good. I grooved my rotors after some spirited driving. After that my whole car would shake like crazy. I ended up buying a Big Brake Kit from StopTech. Their rotors are designed to take the heat and the whole kit it very well put together. Now I don't even worry about overheating the brakes.

On the other hand, if you plan on just putting around town and want brakes that will do a great job with the occasional emergency stop, then stick with stock. Stock calipers are good, stock rotors bad.
