Default Brake Upgrade Qs

After STFA, I'm still a little indecisive about what would work best for me.

I'm thinking about doing DBA slotted rotters up front with Axxis pads. I'd pretty much be buying the rotors from AWE and the Stoptech Stage 1 kit from Achtuning. I guess the Stoptech Stage II kit isnt really worth the extra $300 from what the archives stated.

Do I NEED the rear rotors? The car doesn't see much if any track usage.

Thanks in advance!

Rear go with S8 Rear. Better stopping power.

No, you don't need rear upgrades. Waste of money in your situation.

Default If you don't like tinkering, don't do it. It is not a direct fit....please read..

I have done this mod to 2 cars. You need to use washers to space out the carrier bracket. It is not necessarily the same spacing on both sides. If you are ok with this "ghetto" fix, then it is a great/cheap mod. I really like it on my car.

No one ever listens to me on this, but you do NOT need to grind the rear spindle. When you test fit it, it will not sit flush so everyone grabs a grinder to get it to sit flat. They then need to add the washer spacers to center the carrier over the rotor. These washer spacers give enough clearance that the grinding isn't needed.

As for parts....I got the carriers from 1stvwparts.com. About $80 ea. The rotors are available from a lot of sources. If you track, I recommend raceshopper.com About $150/pr.

Email me if you want more info.

Agree - I fitted RS4 rears, much more stopping power, std rears don't do enough work!
