Default Buying 2001 S4 with 84K miles, need advice!

I found very nice silver 2001 S4 6sp with 84K miles. Car is in great condition and it is very fast. I wanted to hear from you guys what do I need to keep my eye on?

I am thinking to take it to the mechanic before buying but since I am not that familiar with the car I would like to hear form you what are the things he should check for?

Your feedback will be very apreciated!
Thanks,
D.

Just found shop that specializes in audi/vw so I will take it there...
No I don't know the owner but he bought the car new and the car looks very well taken care of.

Default Just in case...

...be sure a $5,000 turbo replacement bill won't kill you too badly. I'm not saying the turbos will go any time too, but it's been known to happen.

I assume that is parts and labor...How much just for the turbos?

What is the way to check the turbos anyway?

Can you hook au a boost gauge to intake manifold somewhere to check the boost?

Default A good starting point is how they sound.

If you can really hear them whining and squaling, you might stay away from that car.
Unfortunately many go while still making full boost right up until failure.
There is ALOT in the archives about this.

Default The turbos might cost around $2500.

To replace the turbos you have to drop the engine out.
