Default Cactus4 Update....

Well, the grand total is $20,580. They started the car (not too smart since the intercooler is wasted) and they tell me that the engine sounds good. SOUNDS GOOD????????? What the hell does that mean? They also tell me that the transmition seems to be fine. How the hell did they determine that? The car has front wheels that point in the opposite direction of each other!! This is nuts. You know that this thing was redlined for the 3 days it was missing as the tires have very little tred left on them. I got the leasing company involved this morning. We'll see what they say about getting a peice of crap back. This nightmare just won't end. I'm sure I'll have more later today. Later.

Default question: Is th ecar at a dealer's body shop or somehwere else?

By starting the car I would be very suprised if they didn't just fubar the engine...so the reason i ask is because i think only the dealer's associated body shop would know what hte engine sounds like, what is left of your engine might just be V5 or a 4 cylinder...unless the guy who crashed it actually didn't put both feet in when braking before the crash.. and the engine stalled BEFORE it crashed...then your engine might still be in tact... good luck though man

Default Hey cactus jack...

how do you tell if an engine is fine by just turning it on?
do you have to bring it to a dealership for repairs?
I hope your insurance covers all this.
btw, if your car is leased, what can you sell it for after it is repaired (assuming that you don't have to pay anything more than the deductable)

Default hey man, put your foot down, throw hell...mention lawyers names, whatever it takes..this car

will never drive the same under acceleration. take it from experience, they made me swallow my old 240 sx back in the days, their words " we'll make it better than new" when the shop is done with it... frame damage and all, the car would swivel and shriver back n forth above 50 mph. i was young and naiive... that will never happen to me again!
i wish you luck, again... throw hell!!

Default Insist on taking it to the dealer...

There is no *way* they have seen everything that is wrong with the car and the estimate is already up to 20K. The dealer or a reputable body shop will find more and more damage as they take the car apart. They will go back and forth with the insurance co and probably endup on a total loss.
