the FZ was a really bad tire. I think that things have changed at toyo since then though.

I've heard rave reviews on the T1-S predecessor when tested on some M3's.
One of the car mags tested 3 stages of E36 M3's. They switched tires from the top Michelin XX3 (whatever) and got noticeably better skidpath, slalom and lap time numbers. Not sure of the T1-S, though. And that's all I know!

What about an opinion on just the T1-S?
The T1-S' are NOT high performance tires. My friend has them on his Golf IV and I have ridden and driven with them. They break fairly easily on hard acceleration and do not provide enough grip around turns. It is not a bad tire, but it is not a great tire either. My friend said they are very similar to the Dunlop SP 9000s, which also is not a high performance tire, but a performance touring tire. Although I have not driven the AVS Sports, if they are anything like the S-02 PPs (which the T1-S' are not even close in comparison to), then they should be worth the price.

One slight possible difference...
this is a Miata with 100 RWHP, and it can *easily* pull +1g turns, using instant g-tech, not sure on the skidpad (still waiting for that large stretch of parking lot at Safeway to open up).
But they are freaking incredible on the track, I was amazed...
As for your horsepower, you can probably count on 10k at best.
but it's the quality of the 10k that really counts...
