Can a cop actually tow your car for not having a front plate?

I don't think so. That sounds ridiculous to me.
that would be like saying the cops could tow your car if you had a busted headlight or tail light.
i think only if you had repeated warnings and tickets about it and you exceeded the allotted time to resolve the problem, then maybe they could do that.
like i said, i don't know for sure. just throwing my thoughts out there.

just going off of a post in the TT forum where a guy was pulled over, threatened
by a cop for not having a front plate. Seems a little too far for a cop to do. Especially for just a fix it. Thanks.

No, not having a front plate is not a moving violation, just a non-display
that is written in your state's code book. If you live in a city/state where they would tow your car for not displaying the front plate, I feel sorry for the cop whose job is so boring that he/she actually takes time to enforce that law.

Depending on where you are at....
sometimes the cops dont even pay attention. I was pulled over a few years ago for the exhaust on my Integra (which was actually very quiet but shiny) and the cop didn't even say anything about not having a front plate. He actually walked in front of the car...and then walked to the back to write down the plate number...didn't even phase him. My only suggestion...don't bitch and moan at the cop...just work with him, he might just let you off with a warning.
