can dealer tell if u swap a chipped ECU vs Stock?
I don't own an S4 yet, but when I get mine I want to chip it. If I need to go to the dealer for warranty work and I swap the ECU, would they be able to tell i was chipped before? Thanks.

Yup, a "power-loss" error code (DTC) will be registered and stored....
...which your dealer can see when they hook up their VAG tool.
It has been reported here, that some folks have been able to swap ECU's without setting off this power-loss code...perhaps if you swap quickly enough the code isn't set, I'm not 100% certain.
One other item, "readiness codes" will need to be reset after swapping ECU's. You can do it with the VAG-COM tool (although it's tedious to do, I'm told) or just drive the car at a steady 55 mph for say 30 minutes and they should all reset on their own.

Can I have a turn at answering this question????
You'll need a VAG tool to clear your ECU, powerfault codes, etc before you take it in or they'll be able to see that 1. you had a chip and 2. you were trying to be tricky and removed it for service.
Problem is, even if you clear the codes you dealer might void your warranty if he thinks you had a chip at one time even if he has no proof. Best to go meed the service manager at your local dealer and see how he/she feels about mods.
FWIW, I've now worked with two dealers that are mod friendly and have had no problems.
