Can a failing MAF (signal too high) cause overboost?

You can get a MAF signal too high code as a result of overboost and a boost leak.
You're vacuuming too much air past the MAF since the leak is causing the ECU to increase N75 duty cycle to get the boost where it belongs. Problem is you end up overboosting and pulling too many g/s past the MAF so although your 02 volts aren't going high enough to get lean bank codes, you can get MAF codes.

Ahh! That does make sense! But...
I still don't understand how a boost leak will result in overboost. Wait.. I think you explained it here, but I probably need to re-read it a couple of times to fully understand...
I had the EGT code *before* the MAF and overboost DTC (e.g. my post from last night), and that was in stock mode. So, I believe you said that the EGT could cause the other two? I'll run in stock mode til I can pressure test.
Please keep trying to get this through my head if you have the patience.

This morning (didn't do the leak test yet), boost is just right after clearing code...
something still probably wrong, since things don't just fix themselves. I'll look at all suggestions. thanx!!
