Default Can someone help explain the function of a 5 bar FPR.......

is it the s4's version of a super afc minus the "a" (air) part. ?
does it just adjust the duty cycle of fuel injectors. the reason i'm wondering is i think i may run rich at this altitude (5280) with the awe fuel kit. so, i was just thinking ahead about the possibilities of a 5 bar fpr

Default It is a fuel pressure regulator. It sustains 5 bar of pressure at the fuel rail.

More pressure = more fuel for the injectors. 1bar= 14.7 psi so 5 bar =73.5psi

Default FPR = fuel pressure regulator - it does just that, I believe its a rising rate

regulator, which under load, delivers ~72.5psi to the fuel rail. In essence, what happens is with a higher FPR, you get more fuel delivery out of an injector (to a certain point.) For instance, going up from a 4bar, to a 5bar in essence is equivilent to increasing your injector size approximately 10%. ie. 350cc to ~380-385cc. It will not help richness issues by "increasing" fuel pressure, infact it will increase richness. If you're running too rich, I would contact AWE/GIAC - maybe there is a reason, or maybe you have O2 sensor problems...

Default so, you can't adjust up or down the duty cycle . it just increase fuel pressure?........

why don't super afc's work in our cars?

because a chip does a better job than a AFC, even a Supra AFC

it just seems tougher to remap a chip vs. an afc (super or supra) ?

I though it was AFC or V-AFC for VTEC controller as well as Air Fuel Controller

Default Well, the ECU is smart enough to compensate a bit for an FPR (how much? I dont know)

the only way I've been able to tell that the ecu has compensated is reduced injection time, from say 23ms to maybe, 20-21ms instead. I really don't know *how* or what it does when it adjusts with an FPR, I do know the motronic system has 20% fuel trim adjustment (10% above and below the programmed trim) but aside from that, I really don't know.

Default

so the FPR adjusts itself within that 20% window that you're talking about?

Default but you already own an AFC

it's part of your ECU, you can mistune an AFC as easy as a chip

and "Supra" is my way of saying using an AFC, on a Bosch ME7 system is RICE
