Can someone please explain me concept of "Glazed clutch". A week on MTM stage 3 and stock clutch...
slipping at low rpm / high gear.
I did not do any high RPM launches, just drove for 4 hrs on a 6th gear, enjoing torque and by the end of the trip it start happening... It happend only if I step on it on 4, 5, 6th gear at 2500 rpm or so. How long do you think stock clutch will last? Any way to adjust the clutch? By the way, MTM stage III 6th gear feels like 5th on stage I |
My understanding is basically that you've removed its ability to grip by...
slipping it so much it makes the grip area smooth instead of grippy. Like can happen with brakepads also. But different. Kinda.

bad install? riding clutch? defective pressure plate?
if you REALLY haven't done bad launches, your clutch should NOT be glazed already.
|
Define "slipping" a clutch, please. As opposed to feathering, that is. Yes, I'm an idiot.
|
Stock clutch can't take max stage 3 torque. You need a stage 3 clutch.
|
Well, I am on K03's, do I really need stage 3 clutch or spec II should be enough..?
|
Sorry, my bad. Nonetheless, you can never have too strong a clutch. --->
A good stage 3 clutch has stock pedal feel.

Re: concept of "Glazed clutch".
I missed a 3rd to forth gear shift once and slipped the clutch. The clutch was weak for a few thousand miles then it was fine again. I think I "Glazed the Clutch"; then with light driving the "glazing " wore off. Take it easy on the clutch , make sure your foot is completely off the clutch before you giv it the gas.
