If so how and can you help, I bought a new style shifter and found out during the install that I have the old style and was wondering if you can just transplant parts to make the old style new.

Are you putting in a new short shifter or a new OEM shifter?

I have a old style short shift with my new style linkage and it has been working for 25k miles. The center is a little bit off, but that's about it. I think it would still work vice versa in your case if you adjust the linkage bolts correctly. Dont bother trying to retrofit your stock stuff onto UUC. I would just mail it back tho and get the right stuff.

I got the shifter used and problem comes where the spring goes on the shaft. the new style shaft must sit a little lower b.c the grove for the c-clamp is covered by the spring perch. so I guess if any one wants a new style uuc shifter shoot me an email I now have one for sale unless you have any ideas?

it will result in a horrible feel. my brother had an old style shifter in his new style car, and it was extremely sloppy. replaced it with the correct shifter and it feels GREAT! i have an old style B&M sitting in my room if you want to buy it....im not looking to get a lot for it...email me if youre interested.
