Default Can you import an RS4 to the US?

I'm so in love with this car, does anyone know if you can order one and get it shipped to the US? Are there any emision limitations that might stop the car from passing emisions limits? Any companies that import german cars to the US?

Default you can't drive it more then some certain amount of miles..or something

Or maybe it was a certain amount of months out of the year. All I know is it's expensive and not really worth it unless you have some serious dough.

Default No - you'll never get it off of the dock.

There is an exception for certain cars taht can be driven only 2500 miles a year, but the regs have not been finalized and no one has been able to import anything using the new exception. The car has to be deemed worthy by the EPA first - historical significance, raremess, etc. the RS4 may qulify.

Default Saw this done once.

This is how a Lotus Elise was shipped to the US:

Go to England.
Find Lotus Elise
Buy car
Have car dismantled (engine seperated from chasis, seats removed, body panels removed)
Have car deemed "Scrap Parts"
Crate the parts and ship to the US.
Re-assemble car.
Registered as "Scrap Parts" (project car)

Might be a little difficult for the RS4, but I think it could be done.

Default Scrap parts cars are registered just as kit cars are. I know someone with a WRX that got it this way

I think the new 'show car' law allows for 2900 miles/year. So maybe that's an option.

Default BETTER...how about a brand new Lotus Elise w/ 220hp?

These guys do all the work for you, and give you a nice upgrade over the Rover engine (as long as you don't mind Honda VTEC's...

http://www.suninternational-usa.com/</a
