car stolen while at dealership - need advice
About a month ago, my 2000 s4 was stolen from Anchor Audi in Lynbrook, NY while it was there for the weekend for repairs/servicing. Thankfully the car was recovered, but the rental and repair bills totalled to about $6000. My insurance company covered the cost, but I had to pay a $1,000 deductible and they did not cover an additional $500 worth of stuff.
I feel Anchor Audi was responsible for the car and should at least pay my $1,000 insurance deductible and the $500 difference of what was not covered. Any advice on how I should handle this? Thanks.

I would suggest writing a professional letter to the manager of the dealership outlining your thoughts and concerns, trying not to be accusational. Finish with a veiled threat, such as "Im sure (insert name of someone who would care) would be very interested in this matter"
That doesnt work, get a lawyer.
Just my 2 bits.

the dealership's insurance should cover that ..and if your ins. paid they should go after the dealer
isn't that how it works, or how it should work.. and now the obvious question: any extra security on your S4 ..you are in one of the worst places in this country , for the s4 to be stolen.

those disclaimers are BS - there is still some amount of responsibility the dealership has.....
for example, I had a car at a dealership once left outside UNLOCKED overnight.
Radio stolen - dealer paid. They were negligent, the waiver doesn't apply.
Certainly the dealer in this case cannot prevent a criminal from stealing a car what is important is that they did not do something negligent to help cause it.....
I'd say, unless edS4 can show that the dealership did something out of the ordinary (like left the car unlocked), there is no way he's getting back his money.
