No. Cartridge bearings are for things that SPIN.

Not for things that move a couple degrees at a time.

A simple, lubed sleeve bearing is more than sufficent for this task.

No.... I got it... I noticed no difference in motion or smoothness (more...)

I moved the arm of the short shifter to get a good feel for it cause I wanted to see how much of a difference the bearings made... When I installed bearings, I noticed NO difference...
Then I thought of it... What do bearings do... they reduce friction of a rotating object... think of the bearing on your car wheel... Let's see, what is the maximum rotation your short shifter moves... 10~30 degrees of a 360 rotation...
All in all it's a waste.
