Change in gas brands produces significant change in performance. Anyone else?
I have been using two different Shell stations in different parts of town for price/convenience with my S4. Hasn't really used anything else. One is a dealer, the other is a "company" station.
With S4 in the shop for surgery, I continued to use the same stations for the rental Malibu. At the time I felt I could have pissed in the tank and not noticed a performance difference. To flog the Chevrolet 3.0L V6 4 speed auto up to merging speed onto the tollway required a full bore floored pedal launch and it barely made 65 when I merged. It's a pretty long entrance ramp.
A Texaco station opened up near I live. The car was on fumes when I went there. I filled up. The tollway entrance is down the road from the Texaco station. I did my usual running quarter toss and accelerator pedal mash and was surprised when the car lept forward instead of it's usual "Who, me?" response. I was doing 80 when I hit the tollway. It is still definitely not an S4!! But the change in gas brands made a surprising difference.
I can hardly wait to get the S4 back anyway, but now I want to see if changing makes a difference. There's a couple of Chevron stations that I can use for a couple weeks too.

Part of it is rounding, part of it is the station
First stations may have crappy tanks that absorb water or might not have a high turn over on one grade..
Second part is certian brands round up or down..
So 93 might really be 92.6 or 93.4.
I find the best to be Sunocco texaco and mobile
The worst to be Shell and exxon. Oddly I think Texaco and Exxon merged so we shall see what they yield
