checked out that salvage S4 yesterday...

....that I had previously posted about. Overall the damage did not *appear* to be that bad. I hooked up the vag-com (log is below) and was able to the car for a short drive as well. Seemed to drive fine with the exception of a shake probably due to alignment, however I never got too into the throttle and didn't take it over 40mph due to the intercooler. It did also have obivious paint/body work prior to this accident.
The guy selling seemed very knowledgable of Audis and even worked for a local dealership for a while. He makes his living repairing salvage Audis is currently working on a '05 S4 and has a B6 A4 and '00-'02 S8 that he just completed. Turns out we had some mutual friends also. However in the end, after thinking about it, I decided it wasn't for me.

kinda makes you wonder why the current owner isn't fixing it himself...
some of those codes look like there is some serious $$$ and wrenching to be done.
#5
i'm not suprised... its simple
he calculates what he would be willing to "not" do the work to fix it and sell it for more, puts it on ebay for that much. If he doesn't get it, he fixes it himself and sells for more.

Agreed.
Based on the codes and the pictures, it does appear he did some of the work on the car...enough to make it "presentable". But the codes seem to indicate there's a good bit of work left to be done. If he's that knowledgable about cars, he's made a decision to stop at this point and sell it unfinished. No warm and fuzzies here.
