chipped S4 as dramatic a difference as a chipped 1.8T? It doesn't feel very fast stock.

chipped S4 as dramatic a difference as a chipped 1.8T? It doesn't feel very fast stock.
So I'm leaning more towards the S4 on my whole 97 A4 vs. 00/01 S4 debate. I test drove an S4 this weekend and I was a little surprised at how slow it seemed in stock form. To be fair, there were 3 people in the car on the drive, but I still wasn't overly excited about the speed. (My GIAC DWB 1.8T felt about as quick off the line, and my 95 M3 would absolutely destroy it to 100.)
Does chipping the S4 make the night and day difference like the A4? Will it transform it into another car? Also, can the suspension handle the additional power? The car squatted and dove on acceleration and braking more than I would have imagined.
Thanks to you guys for the continued advice on this decision.

I thought 1/4 on stock S4 was 14.5, I would imagine higher with 3 people in car. Haven't people run
mid 14's with chipped K03's? I know people have run high 13's on stock M3's, and my M3 has a few mods, so that's probably helping the S I drove feel slower than it actually is.
Still wondering what the chip does for the car in terms of *feel*.
Also, amazed by the thread below where that stage III S4 is only running 13's. I would hope that spending the money for a stage 3 kit on the S4 would get you in the 12's without even trying. Don't stage III A4's run low 13's?

Stock S4 will get its *** handed to it by a stock E36 M3 on the track.
and we did some freeway roll-on tests, and the Stock E36 was DEAD EVEN with the Stock S4. Granted this was a "fast" E36 (dynoed 213 @ the wheels), but still.
Stock E36 suspension is WAY better than the stock S4 suspension, btw.

Stock S4s with good drivers run 13.9-14.1, chipped S4s should run mid to low 13s, and Stage II+ S4s
should run 12.9-13.2. Stage III S4s are all over the place because the tuning isn't where it should be. A stock E36 M3 is about at fast as a stock S4, it's going to come down to the driver, but that's in a straight line. Throw in some curves, and the E36 M3 is going to pull. The S4 is a great highway cruiser, the M3 will tackle the corners out of the box.
