Default Chipping Warranty question. I posted this on the A6 suggested I post here as well

Has anyone with a chipped 2.7 been denied service repair under factory or extended warranty because of a turbo failure or transmission failure? Audi service told me if the turbos or transmission is to fail on a chipped car they usually say it was due to the chip.

How many folks here have burned out their turbos or transmission due to a chip from just street driving?

TIA

Default of course ! chip=most likely voided engine warranty...

the chip puts so much stress on everything that leads tohigher underhood temeperatures, presure leaks... blown turbos... if not carefully maintained and not beat on all the time..
some folks here have gone over 100k miles on the stock turbos with chips.. very conservative driving though..

Default Consider this...

Link

And do a search of " Magnuson-Moss Act ". You'll find a huge archive on these and other issues surrounding chips, warranties, etc.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/279510.phtml</a

Default I have it home printed out already ... and i know there is no way to actually proove the chips fault

or overspining turbos ...it's all BS and the main problem is time consuming they drag u around forever till the do anything ..
and most here do whatever the steeler tells them to do , that is Not what i would do in a such situation but ..that's me.
one here went after AOA with seat rocking problem and of course won and got the seat fixed..but he did something not listen to the stupid dealer that tries to scam all of us anyway they can ..
they see u have money for mods and don't know the right people and u have no clue about the car ...they scam u period.and make pay for more than u should.

Default Why are you asking? Are you chipped and if so what chip tuner?...

It is very hard to prove that the cause of the turbo failure is directly related to the Chip. Also they would have to prove your chipped. With the GIAC chip a VAG scan by the dealer shows the same as stock unless your ecu is storing dtc's/fault codes.

Good Luck!

Default Last time I checked it was pretty easy to crack the ECU. I assume you would recommend swapping

to a stock ECU prior? I would guess the dealer would be smart enough to do a physical check.

Set some cash aside if you chip, if you play you have to consider the possibility that you may have to pay.

Not chipped yet but really considering it. Just hate to get a bill for $5,000 if I smoked the turbos.
