Default Clear Titanium Window Option

Almost. I let my A4 sit out last night (silly me), and around 3:30am someone attempted to break the passenger side window out with a baseball bat. My neighbors saw the whole thing, and were able to scare the burglars/vandals off within 45 seconds of their first swing.

The only thing is, after 5 hits with the bat, they couldn't get the window to break! I came out this morning to 5 big scratches on my window, but no breakage.

Either Audi makes a helluva window, or these were some pretty stupid burglars

BTW, when I get the S4 in a few months, it will ALWAYS be in the garage!

Default Re: what the hell were they after?

I live in a pretty good neighborhood in Rockford, Illinois. There was nothing in the car of any value (no phone, wallet, etc.).

School just started here, and I have a feeling it was just some stupid high school students driving by that thought they could make a quick score.

I don't know what they were thinks, as the alarm went off right away. Again, I just think it was some stupid kids joy riding around.

Default Curved windows are real strong...

... from the outside, especially from strikes from blunt objects. It it had been more pointed, different story.
Years ago, I slide off a road and nailed a guard rail end with the right side of my car. The passenger window was bent to double or even triple its normal curve. I figured it was under such stress that it might shatter with any little bump. Since I didn't want that to happen while driving, I decided to break the glass before driving off. Well, after wailing on it for about 5 minutes, WITH A TIRE IRON, I decided it wasn't going to on its own after all.
You can get anywhere in 10 minutes if you drive fast enough.

Default Saw a consumer TV show this week on laminated side windows

Their message was how laminated glass all around would save lives in a wreck/rollover. They threw a 10lb rock thru a side window from the inside simulating a head striking the glass and tried to do the same thing from inside and out with the same rock on the front laminated windshield with just cracking of the glass.
The cost to OEM this is something like $150 /car to the buyer. Laminated glass is apparently available on some high-end Mercedes and Bimmers.

Default laminated glass available on A6 in Germany

Possibly the A4 also. Comes with Cold Weather Package for warmth.

I don't think it is legal in the US. I don't know why.

Default Happens often here - kids go up the street breaking out windows for FUN and take NOTHING...

There will be a rash of them where they'll go up the street and take out 20 or 30 cars at a time. For example, a friend of mine had both rear windows of his Tahoe smashed out and they didn't even attempt to steal anything...

(This is in various suburbs of Denver, someplace you wouldn't really expect this sort of thing but I guess it's kind of endemic now...)
