Clunking noise from rear of car...HELP pls!
Darn.... now what?
I started to hear a noise coming from behind of the car and I thought it was road noise or the snow tires getting worn.
Today I found out it's something bigger than that..
It's a grinding/something loose noise when the car is moving only...
Almost like the noise you have when your brake caliper breaks or is out of alignment and making noise with the rotor/wheel.
I am thinking it could be the rear differential...
The noise gets a lout louder when I make sharp turns (mostly to the right) and the sound seems to be coming from the driver's side.
Any experience or advise with this?
Much appreciated.

wheel bearing? Does it sound like one of those old prop planes?....
Does it get quieter when you swerve to the left?
If it changes with load changes it could be a wheel bearing....my rear wheel bearing went bad and it sounded like bad tire wear - the sound changed dramatically with load changes though.

Uhh yeaahhhh that could be it...
But the question is...
Why in hell would it go bad so quickly?
If that's the problem, at least it won't be too expensive or hard to find (I hope).
Sigh..
Thanks man!

Thanks much guys! Do you need any special tools to change a bearing?
I am pretty sure it's a bearing as it had been making some very subtle noise for a while now.
My car just got out of warranty (54K) so I will check and see if the dealer will give me any break on this as they worked on the back axle/wheels when I had that bad brake problem in November.
Thanks much again, appreciated guys!
