Clutch failure... Hydraulics... shared Brake-Clutch hydraulic system?
I've had two clutch failures with my Audi in first 13,000 miles I've had my car. The first clutch was replaced at about 6,000 miles. Both occurred just after a return from a road trip of 1800-2500 miles. Audi covered the first under warranty, i had to pay for the second.
I am absolutely certain that I am not to blame as I have driven manual transmission cars for 25 years (including the British sports car I've had since 1979) without similiar problems. I simply do not have any of the habits associated with driver induced premature clutch wear or failure. Something is wrong with the clutch system; my guess is in the hydraulic system. ANY ELSE having similiar or related problems with their still under warranty AUDI?
Here is a flyer.... I recently had my ABS system repaired the rear brakes were hanging up causing premature wear... could pressure building from build up of heat in brake lines translate to the hydraulic lines both share the same fluid but there should be a pressure release at the resevoir...anyone knwledgable on this?

Re: By "clutch failure" you mean that your disk was shot?
I could not shift into 1st or 2nd. the disc had cracks in it... I assume signs of high temperature associated w/ slipping. My independent mechanic thinks that a hydraulic component malfuntion is causing the clutch to become slightly disengaged on longer drives...enough to cause imperceptable but contiuous slippage and the premature wear I've experienced.
