Default Clutch Hydraulic Problem?

I went to put my car into gear at a stop sign shortly after starting it. I could not get it into gear. I finally got it into gear and then could not get it out of gear.

I drove for a short distance.
It then started to work properly. When I got home I pulled into the garage and could not get the car into reverse.

Does this sound like a clutch Master or Slave cylinder or some other part of the sysyem? The brake
fluid level in the resvoir is at a normal level.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Default Easiest thing to do is bleed the sytem.

Otherwise its either the Slave / master cylinder. Does your pedal feel ok?

But the next likley suspect is the Pressure plate.
Either broken fingers, or SAC got screwed.

The pedal seems to feel normal.

What type of Brake fluid do you recommend? I have some ATE super Blue and Type 200. I have read that these can cause a squeeky clutch pedal on our cars.

Default Self - Adjusting - Clutch _ Mechanisim.

Basicaly should be PITA. Since you will have to pull the Clutch anyways to fix it.

I would call and get a clutch masters setup.
People here can help you decide on the right unit for your app.

I recomend against ATE in these cars. I dont have personal experiance with it. But Valvoline Synth fluid is available at any auto chain store, and is withing 3% of performance numbers. at 4-5$ a quart. You can not go wrong.

So you think just replacing both the master and slave cylinders is the best course?

Default no. Bleed it first..

if that does not work, then
its most likeley the pressure plate.

You mentioned the pedal feels fine, which leads me to believe its more a pressure plate issue.

with the trans out to fix the clutch you can examin the slave.

you pedal would stick if it was hydrualic.

Default Don't use the typ 200. I had to replace it to stop the ...

squeaking when the clutch was engaged and disengaged. I think I used Valvoline synthetic this time.
