Default Clutch seems to be going need some advice

Happy New Year all......

After 4 years, 45000 miles it seems the clutch is going. It slips in gears 1-4 so assume thats the problem. Local dealer quoted 1600.00 for replacment is that about right? We have some good mechanics in the area should I go to an idependent guy or stick with the dealer? Warrenty has expired some time ago. Could it possibly only adjusting? Any help or opions would greatly appreciated

Default Our clutch is self-adjusting, so that is likely not the issue. I would go with indy mechanic unless

you trust your dealer implicitly. Dealers usually get lots of labor hours for clutch R&R. Many have opted for the RS4 clutch (same friction disc as S4 but upgraded PP) once they are out of warranty, as it is stouter than the OEM one in the S4.

Default Re: Pill Pusher thanks.........

Can't make the meet playing golf but I'll try to make a future one. Leith is where I purchased the car and they have done all service to date. They quoted 1600.00 is that about what you paid? How many miles did you have on it? How long were you without the car? Did you ask for the RS clutch? Looking forward to your response.

Default I had the OEM clutch not the RS4 put in because I was under warranty.

Long story, Upper oil pan leak go on my pressure plate and flywheel causing my clutch to leak. That = free clutch for me and I didn't want to pay for an RS4 since it was free.

Talk to Roger because he can probably do an RS4 for about the same price. My car was in for other issues but I think it would be 4 days or less, don't quote me on it.

Give me a ring and I can give you the scoop.
