Default coil over vs. shocks/springs

I have researched the threads regarding the topic but haven't found good information. I am looking to mod the suspension on a 01s4. I don't want to give up a lot of ride quality. What are all of your opinions?

Default ride quality depends on the shock

ride height (in a spring/shock set up) depends on the spring. If you're looking for a cosmetic improvement, don't bother with coilovers. If you are looking for a performance improvement, but aren't interested in tracking or autox'ing your car, don't bother with coilovers. In my opinion, they wouldn't be worth the extra $$

Coilovers are a lot cheaper in the long run if you plan on changing your ride height a few times.

Default smurfette's selling her used shock and spring set in a few weeks...

she probably didn't mention it because they aren't ready to be sold (she's sending them back to Koni to have them revalved to new specs). It might be a bit more sporty than you're looking for, but it's not harsh or stiff either. If you're going to spend the money, you may as well get something with a good performance gain...and the set she's selling is a very nice street kit!

If you search through some threads a few weeks ago, smurfette was asking about pricing opinions, and within that thread we had a little debate about this suspension. Lots of good info in that thread!
