Default Consequences for running MAF-less and TCD?

I tried this out on my car to help determine if my MAF housing was to large. I have to say with this GIAC software and my Tip trans it shifts a lot better. I can now do part throttle under boost at low speeds ~40mph .. Amazing! There are some abnormalities when driving however, for example if I am crusing and I crack the throttle just a tad to speed up the engine feels like its going to stall or its breaking up. It doesnt' do this when I get into boost however. And if I am in TIP mode in 4th gear under extremem boost and I upshift into 5th it BANGS big time so I avoid doing that now. I just wanted to check with you guys see what you think, since the car essentially has no MAP sensor since its clamped and now no MAF sensor since its unpluged I am wondering how its calculating load with the boost I am running. Just makes me a bit nervous. Input?

Default TIP gets it's load signal from the MAF.

So when you run a larger MAF you are effectively tricking the transmission into a higher torque rating.

Default Well I am not running a maf at the moment .. Hmm wouldn't <more>

that be the other way around? Since the MAF reading is lower (90mm MAF) the load it sees would be lower? Now if the MAF were smaller running the same turbos/boost the MAF reading would be higher so I would get harder faster shifts? I am thinking about trying out an 88mm MAF. Can't find someone to let me borrow one that bolts to an R$4 airbox though :>

Default Hitachi

I don't want to sell my 90mm MAF just incase I need it again. Just need anything thats 88mm and will work with an RS4 airbox for testing.

Default You're partially there. It gets a lower signal relative to what is actually going on.

Bigger MAF=lower load signal realative to the amount of TQ you are actually putting in. Therefore you are tricking the trans into thinking it is getting a normal load.

Default with the maf unplugged it uses rpm and throttle plate angle,

MAP is not consulted if its in "characteristic" load calc.

i.e. your car will run sick if the ECU thinks either the MAF or MAP is dead.

A MAP clamp will not (normally) cause the ECU to think the MAP is dead.
