Default Is a CPO worth it for a 2001 S4?

Planning on getting an S4 in the fall and need to figure out if a Certified Pre-Owned warranty is worth it. The CPO is 6 years after vehicle in service date, so it should be good till 2007, on a 2001 car.

My question is, should I pay the extra to get the CPO, or not bother and just buy the aftermarket parts to upgrade the pieces in the engine that are likely to wear out?

Thanks for any help.

Default i didn't buy CPO so i am unaware--what are the guidelines as far as modding goes for CPO?

like can you change suspension/exhaust w/o voiding the warantee?

Default Keep in mind, it will cover more than the engine. How much does a display cost?

If you get the LED's that go out.

Or a stereo head unit, or a seat motor...

I personally think it's very worth it.

I haven't looked to deeply into what invalidates the warranty.

I would assume any upgrades for power would invalidate it. Not sure about replacing engine hoses and such for better ones.

Default I'm admittedly jaded by Audi service, but *no* warranty that requires a visit to the Audi dealer

is worth it in my mind. I've had enough headaches with those experiences to know better than to do it again.

Default It sure was for me! Instrument cluster, fuel tank sensors/transmitters

water pump (and they then did all of the 60K stuff like timing belt, tensioners and idlers).

Even a TBB in the beginning!

Default well,,i can tell you that I have loved and learned soo much about my car from modding it! but many

here will recommend the CPO...i am fairly confident that the previous owner of my car took great care of it (he was a regular on here) and all i really worry about is the turbos, which i will replace w/ k04 or hybrids as soon as the k03's fail. other than that,,i don't think the upkeep of my car will be a huge expense

Default I wouldn't buy an S4 without it unless you have a good stash of cash

and are planning to go mod crazy.

Most typical mods (exhaust, suspension, brakes) really will not mess with your warranty - EXCEPT a chip of course - and the warranty will probably pay for itself (I've had my S4 since July and have had both O2 sensors, display, and a few other things completely covered. If the turbos go out the warranty is worth $6000.00!!!!
