Crazy outside temp gauge....

Every now and then my outside temp display will drop down to -20(happens more when its above 90) then slowly climbs back up. When it drops down around 40 the A/C will not blow cold
(compressor shuts off cause the car thinks its cold out) any one else have this? Any thoughts?

Sounds like sensor connection problem, or bad sensor.
