Default Cruise control trouble shooting advice

I just tried using my cruise control this morning (first time in ages) and it doesn't work. A quick glance through the archives reveals many possible causes, e.g., bad stalk switch, bad or misadjusted clutch switch, bad or misadjusted brake switch, and more.

Anyone have some troubleshooting advice? I have a laptop with a VAG adapter; it would be ideal to be able to troubleshoot that way, rather than with a multimeter.

Default Spray some electronic cleaner behind the sliding button. . . spray a bunch in there.

work the action (haha) a few times while it's still wet (haha again). Then try it again. sometimes the contacts get dirty. Worked for me, cost $2 for some electronic cleaner, took about 5 min.

Give it a shot.

You mean the APR program changing button? Occasionally I use it for cruise control too.

Default Miine still goes wacky if I use the "accelerate" position.

It will stop working entirely until I turn the ignition off which seems to reset it. I just avoid the Accel feature and it's worked fine for just cruising for years now.
