Default Custom 2.5" downpipes up to the stock main cats installed for $650. Good deal?

I finally found a shop down here in Miami that has worked on B5 S4's before. Like the title says, they're offering to make steel (not stainless) 2.5" downpipes from the turbo to the main stock cats for $650 installed.

I have no plans for stage III at the moment and was just going to have piggie pipes installed since it's a heck of a lot cheaper than $1,400 downpipes. From what I've read, installation alone costs anywhere from $300-$600.

So what do you all think... is this a good deal? Any reason why I should pass?

<edited>put wrong price in the title. Doh!</edited>

Default As the gases cool, they expand....right?

So you'd want the DP/exhaust setup to get bigger as you move away from the turbo and not vice versa.....I think. Anyone? Bueller?

are they mandrel bent? im guessing using stock flanges to the turbos? ur in florida why not have him go a little further and put straight pipe for stock cats?...nothing beats the sound of turbos w/o cats breathing

Default Have you seen their work?.. 2KS4 had custom pipes made and he was not happy at all IIRC...

buy/make piggies find some used ones or pony up the cash for a new set. All said and done you not gonna save a whole lot compared to the possible headaches.

Default Lemieux is right,

pv=nrt

for constant pressure, if temp drops volume for a given number of molecules of gas drops = gas contracts.

Ok, so the taper right before the main cats wouldn't be such a bad thing
