Sounds like they screwed up the low-speed CAN Buss
It would be a twisted pair, in a shield. It should not be shorted, or connected to in any way.
I suspect the stereo installer thought it was an audio path of some sort, and they are probably feeding audio down it. It is reasonably well protected, so if that's what happened, all they need to do is isolate it, and all should be well.
That bus is what all low speed devices use to talk in the Audi, windows, interior lights, windows, alarm, etc.
CAN = Controller Area Network or Car Area Network. Sort of a slow, robust, "car ethernet"
