Dealer repairs yesterday. Depending on how I rationalize it, I either got a good deal or raped. (L)

Default Dealer repairs yesterday. Depending on how I rationalize it, I either got a good deal or raped. (L)

So, I took my car in because the check engine light was on (Low MAF reading) thinking I'd get a new MAF. My logs showed only ~200g/s so I thought this would be the way to fix that. And my ABS|Brake light has been coming on. Oh, and my brake pad sensor is on but I already ordered rotors/pads from ECS.

So I told my service advisor just to diagnose the Check Engine light and ABS|Brake light. I waited about 30 minutes and was told that both BPV and a vacuum hose was leaking and that the ABS unit needed to be replaced. $2850! Yikes! But wait...

They said AoA would pick up 75%. So I decided to go ahead with it. I would owe ~$625+tax. For all that work I thought, okay. This is the good deal rationalization.

So, I went to pick up the car and my advisor told me he saved me a little more money. Great, except. AoA decided to cover the ABS at 100% and I paid for the BPV and vacuum hose at $614 (incl tax). But wait, if I had known, I would have done the BPVs myself! This is the "I got raped" rationalization.

Oh well, at least now my dash doesn't light up like a christmas tree.

BTW, I am 18 months out of warranty.

Call AOA and tell them $614 for cheap DV's and a hose is an insult!

Let's turn this into a poll - who thinks I "got raped", who thinks it was a "good deal"?

Maybe they didn't do anything to the ABS.. Hence Audi picking it up 100%... 100% of nothing = 0%.

I vote that you have been raped. $614 for DV's and a hose is not right. fight that.

I agree... Ask them to show part prices and required time to do the repair and how that equals $614.

RAPE! How would justify a good deal for 100% ABS coverage and you still paying the initial quote?

Shouldn't you only have to pay 25% of the BPVs?
