Dealer selling a "2001 S4" but had 2000 features.. explain?
Went to the dealer tonight, they had a silver S4 being sold as a 2001. It had the old S4 badges inside and outside the car, no chrome mirrors. Are they selling 2001 with old badges on them?

you can tell if it is a 2001 if it has the ESP button on the center console

As for old badges, I believe the later batch of 2001 S4s will have the new badge, but the earlier 2001s (like mine) have the older badge of the 2000 model.

If it's a 2001, it will only have aluminum mirrors if it has the sports pkg (alcantera seats)
However, just because it has the sports pkg doesn't mean it will have the aluminum mirrors (Audi's been screwing this up big-time). Check for the ESP button.

"Sports package" is just a way of forcing you into AL mirrors to get Alcantara seats...
Higher package price == higher profits. For example, Alcantara was a separate option on the 2000 S4...
