Dealer tells me I may have a bad turbo (read on)
My S4 (2000) just started making a metal to metal rattling sound under modest acceleration (1/4" down on pedal). They checked all the heat shields and everything was fine. What I've noticed is that the rattle gets harder to hear as the engine warms up. Is this a sign of turbo failure?
Secondly, the turbo that seems to be maiking the noise (passenger side) is leaking a bit of oil just below the inltet pipe (between the intercooler hose and the pipe going to the turbo. Dealers says it's nothing to worry about as I've only used 1/2 Qt. of oil in 2500 miles.
Please supply feedback.
Solution at this time is to "let the problem get worse" in order to pin point the exact cause of the rattle.
TIA

Sounds like it could be.
If you're hearing any kind of noise that sounds like metal to metal, odds are your turbo is starting to go. IF you can, jack the car up and disconnect the hose to the IC on that side. If there's a significant amount of oil, might mean your turbos is starting to take a nap.
