Default Deciding between used S4 and new Legacy GT

I'm looking at used S4s just below $20k, and brand new Legact GT for about $25k. Anyone driven both? My holdback with the S4s is repair issues, and I would have a 3 year warranty on the Legacy. Both cars a similar performance numbers stock.

Default if maintenance is an issue than stick with the legacy.. because a used S can be pretty expensive of

a car to upkeep!

Default Tough choice...

Simple version:

You like to tinker and are a total gearhead: S4

You want a fun daily driver: Subaru

FWIW, If I were to buy a new sedan today it would be the Legacy GT. In 2000 it was the S4.

Default If it's your only car and you don't have a reserve to cover issues go with the Subie.

It won't be as much fun ad the S though . . .

Default Yup. Same here. With just a reflash and exhaust the Legacy GTs will do 265+hp at the wheels.

I am considering picking up one for my better half.

Default Haha, man...

I'm so considering getting one for the wifes car. Only thing is: I just paid it off.

Plus it's a 2001 Celica GTS 6spd, a very fun car with abundant cargo space and great gas mileage. Man, a tough car go give up. But if we were to give it up; the Subaru Legacy GT Limited is it.

Default A Legacy GT is not in the same league as the S4. Now, if you were talking the GT Ltd....

...that is another matter.

Thing is if I get one for her I know I will just dump a load of $$ into it. It is "today's" S4.

Default Yea, it is...

We're still going through the dilemma here. I think the "keep the GTS" is winning, since the car is just so reliable, practical and frugal and paid for :/

I can't condemn any Scooby purchase, honestly. They're all great for the price.
