Did any one ever notice that Bridgestone tires have very small contact patches in comparison to
their stated tire width. I was wondering if that may be some of the problem with the stock tires. They are stated as being 225 series but in actuality they are more like 215 or 205. Check out the link to the Bridgestone SO-2 PolePositions they have actual measurments of their tires. Their tires are almost always 1.5 to 2 inches smaller at the contact patch than the widest part of the tire. Now to find a tire with the compound of the poleposition but the width of a true 225.

http://www.bridgestone-usa.com/products/s02pptec.htm</a

I compared the tread width to that offered on some of their other models and the other performance models did indeed have a wider tread width. I also noticed that a 235/40-17 has a 0.3" wider tread and overall width than a 235/45-17.

But Bridgestone 235's dont fit on stock rims with out spacers which in NY with the huge potholes
Put to much stress on suspension components. Suggest some other good tires that give me what i am paying for increased contact patches give more grip for cornering and stopping.
