DIY brake pad and rotor change
Hi,
I cant seem to find a good DIY brake pad and rotor change for B5 S4's. Also, if anyone has good recommendations for brake pads and aftermarket (stock size) rotors that would be helpful. I am looking for brake pads that are good street pads (little/no squeal) with less brake dust than stock.
thanks,
turbolas.

Brake FAQ is under construction...
but you can read about pad changes and BBK installs and distill how to remove the stock calipers to get to the rotors.

Hawk HPS are decent street pads, and DBA slotted rotors are nice stock replacements.

2nd the Hawks as *decent* street pads (more)....
I really like their bite for most conditions on the street, but when pushed hard they go away VERY quickly. I wasn't counting on that to happen, and the first time it really scared me. I could pound stock pads all day and almost never fade, the HPS faded after about 10min of hard mountain driving. That is stupid IMO. Also there is an initial warmup for these pads. It isn't long at all, but def. there, and again, if you're not ready for it, it'll catch you off guard.
IMO those two factors combine to make this pad's operating range VERY narrow, and that's something I hate. I want to ditch them quickly, so if anyone wants a set let me know, mine have less than 500miles on them. Dunno what I am gonna get next however....

Check out these videos of my b5 s4 brake replacement. I upgraded my stock rotors to ECS rotors with Hawk Performance Pads - I've noticed less brake dust and less fade! Hope this helps!
